Ok - this is where I (and maybe you) finally make a fortune.
If you think that you can write a (visual basic?) routine to do a Fuzzy search, comparing two lists on Excel files then outputting exact or close matches to a third list then read on.
As briefly as possible:
I am a music publisher. As such I collect money for my songwriters from releases of their music. I have a database of all the songs & writers that I represent which can be exported to Excel. Music publishing royalties are paid by record companies to an organisation called the MCPS in the UK, who pass the money to their publisher / writer members represent. Their database of songs is HUGE.
If I have a song called "I Am An Albion Fan" but the MCPS have the song on their system as "I Am An Albion Fag"
or "I Am An Albino Fan" then I probably won't get paid my royalties and the money will go into what is called a "Copyright Control" account. MCPS provide Excel files to publishers with lists of all songs in this Copyright Control account.
If I can do a fuzzy search looking for close matches from my list of songs that I publish on this copyright control list (perhaps also using songwriter details) then I will be able to claim the money due to me and my songwriters.
And I could sell this to other music publishers, or run the routine on their behalf, and get commission on the enormous amounts of money recovered.
Simple huh?!
I've searched the internet and found a few programs that spot typo's in a single list, but I need something more precisely based on the above, and which can generate a specific output file.
Which computer genius would like to be my partner in this get rich quick scheme? You write the code, and you can be on a share of the profit.
PM me if you are up to the task or email me at guymorris20@hotmail.com
Oh, and I trust you all not to steal my idea!
