O/T - edit dvd on pc

I think this has been on here before but I couldn't find it...
I have some tapes taken with video camera that I have put onto dvd. Now I want a editor type program to edit the dvds on the pc - anyone recommend anything?? (I have tried Ulead trial version.)
I know it's a bit vague - it's all new to me!
