Does any one else think these new Travel Information Boards on motorways are a complete and utter waste of time (and money)?
They never seem to explain exactly what the problem is. For example, I was travelling up the M3 the other day and the sign says long delays nothbound on the A34. Becaasue I dont trust these things anymore I travel up the A34 to find out that the long delay consists of braking slighty to move into the outside lane to avoid a minor smash on the inside lane. This delayed me by all of 20 seconds. I wonder how many people read the sign, panicked, and found an alternative route that took them miles out the way to avoid this 'long delay'.
There must be some dosy twats that operate them aswell, because they never seem to be switched off until ages after the 'incident' happened. I hardly ever drive on a motorway now without being advised at some point to slow down to 50 mph for no apparent reason.
They're a missed opportunity as far as I'm concerned. If they had more information like being more specific about whats happened, trying to quantify the delays, advised on alternative routes etc. I'd be happier. Team news and current scores woul'nt go amiss either.
Thank you for listening
