O/T a current affairs riddle today

Toni-Ann Byfield aged 7 was deliberately shot in the back after her crack-dealer father Bertram Byfield, 41, was murdered in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Pretty horrific and sad stuff but has anyone considered this fact?

Bertram Byfield had served a nine year jail sentance, released 2 years ago, so how could he have fathered a 7 year old daughter?

to be "fathered" means to be brought up/looked after, does'nt mean to say he's the biological father

That did occur to me just before I emptied a cup of tea onto my alarm clock radio which then fizzled and died. Perhaps he was let out for a weekend or two for good behaviour.
