Having sat on my book shelf for 14 years I can at last bring myself to reading this book for the first time. Only now that our future is secured can I read through the pages knowing that no man will ever be greater than our club and against all the odds we have come out stronger.
I might be wrong but I’m thinking that possibly others may have considered re-visiting our past prior to what will be an emotionally charged first game at the Amex, and perhaps would be interested in the following suggestion:
I’m thinking of setting-up a NSC ‘Build a Bonfire’ book club, taking each of the 5 core chapters, and reviewing amongst fellow fans – our own experiences, our emotions at the time, chewing over the text etc. For any of you slow readers I’m proposing 1 chapter per month as follows:
Intro and July 95-Dec 95: Month of Feb
Dec 95 – Oct 96: Month of March
Sept 96 – April 97: Month of April
Jan ’97 – May ’97: Month of May
Lessons to be learnt: Month of June
‘Reflections’: Month of July
So, get reading and I’ll start a book club thread mid-Feb to review chapter 1.
