Think unless Gus is pulling a fast one, this is a big error. Leaving promotion to the combination up front as we speak, is perilous imo.
Sooner or later Barnes will have a suspension with his petulant manner, Muzza will get injured. Relying on the likes of Holroyd and , heaven forbid, Harty, to see us home does not fill me with confidence. Wood will keep chipping away, but experience is what is needed. I would have pushed the boat out to get Phillips on a pay as you play till the end of the season.
I hope I'll be proved wrong, but am not that confident now.

Wood, Barnes and Murray is good enough for me. Failing that you can a 5 man midfield with Bennett and Noone pushing up and effectively making a 3 man attack.

Let's not panic!

I would like to see Bennett and Noone both out on the wings with Sparrow pushing through the middle supporting the front two.

Unless they were 'special' I cannot see any signings walking straight into our first team. I think the squad is fairly strong as it is, particularly in midfield, a reasonable defence and three decent strikers and one wild card who can shake things up in the last ten minutes or so. If he recovers fitness I would expect to see Lua Lua come back on loan for the final push.

There is always the loan market. Just in case!

You are right, Gus has good contacts and i am sure the loan market will do us a job while we deal with suspenstions etc, it will also give us the final push we might need.

The problem is the loan and transfer deadline finishes in early March and we will still have about 8 weeks after that if we lose a striker then we would have a problem. Our last few games are against possible contenders for the title.

Its worked well first half of the season. Be a bit more confident in the club. Even if 2 of our main 3 strikers get injured we have a good enough midfield to play 4-5-1

Agree. I think we have a pretty adaptable squad at the moment and the depth in midfield is key to making sure we do not fall apart if we get hit by suspensions or injuries. If needs must we will almost certainly get a striker in on loan to do an Iwelumo/Owusu/Rougier type job and fitness permitting I can see KLL returning too. Other than that I cannot see too many more players joining us before seasons end. Which I don't neccessarily see as a bad thing as we don't really want or need to change things around too much.

I see on his blog today Andy Naylor agreed with my interpretation that Harley was the special one and as we have missed out on him....................................

also note a rumour on there that Elphick is going to Sheff Utd (source - his mum!)
