From the Evening Post today... (without smoke etc etc).

"NICKY FORSTER insists there has been no bust-up with manager Steve Coppell and says he would love to get back to form and earn a new contract at Reading.

The pacy frontman was a shock omission from the squad which travelled to Crewe on Tuesday night and it looks like his days at Madejski Stadium are numbered.

"He is unlikely to figure for Reading at home to Leicester City on Saturday and Coppell is willing to loan him out.

As we reported months ago, the Royals boss is still keen on West Ham’s Bobby Zamora, but any move will not happen until the season ends.

Coppell insists that Forster, whose Royals deal expires in the summer, is out of form and burdened by his contract situation.

He has turned down the chance of a loan move to a struggling unnamed Championship rival although it is not Brighton, as has been reported.

Forster told the Evening Post: “Any talk of me not trying for the team is rubbish. There is nothing more I would like than to score some goals and earn a new contract at Reading.

“While I’m here, whether it’s in the reserves, or whatever, I will give my all until my time ends – whenever that may be.

“I love this club and will continue to do my best in training and hopefully get back on the bench and then in the team.

OK, where was this even "reported" in the first place?! And I would take that possibly as being that there is potential here?

OK, so its hardly a rumour, but is he the sort of player that you'd actually be after at the moment?

I think Gillingham were linked with him. Didn't he use to play for the pikies?

Probably nothing in it. Our boys aren't exactly prolific, but with Knight, Hart and McCammon all fit, and Chris McPhee training again, we aren't short of options. So much so that Jake Robinson has just gone out on loan to the Shots.

Yep, started his career there and moved to Brentford, Birmingham, and then Reading.

Cracking player, just injury prone and possibly past his best. Sort of a pacier version of Leon Knight with worse finishing but better creativity.

I take it you mean Forster has the better finishing? Good player, but wouldn't really fit into our gameplan at the moment.

Oh no... Neon Light can finish far better than Forster...

Is it me or does EVERY hack, when mentioning The Albion, refer to us as 'struggling Brighton'? It's starting to piss me off and seems that these jobsworth reporters can't even be arsed to look at the Championship table assuming we are in the relegation zone.

I think most of them look at our ground and KNOW we are struggling :(

True but somehow I do not think they are talking about our off the pitch struggle.

Forster is a decent player at this level, but it sounds as though he doesn't want to play for any other team but Reading.

I'd rather have a player who was totally focused on playing from the Albion and treating us as a step up for them personally, rather than a step down.

In fact, if they checked the table after every game this season they'd find that the only time we were in the bottom three was in August.

We're struggling off the pitch, but not on the pitch. Media people make no distinction between one or the other. I couldn't give a toss...

Forster's wages would be more than our budget would allow anyway.

Unless all that expenditure on nights out with fag hag Cilla has forced Just For Men Madejski to tighten the purse strings?

It's suprising how Forster didn't step forward for Reading while Kitson was out. Fine player, would be brilliant to get him for us now that Leon is playing better as a winger and his contract talks are pretty much up in the air.
