...getting back on topic somewhat after all that talk above...

if its got a collar I won't buy it
if its got that stupid stlyised seagull I won't buy it

if its not got a collar and its got the proper logo on it I'll buy it even if it is made from bogroll level polyester and will cost close to €80 to get over here.

Getting rid of the club badge has been done before - we had a seagull badge throughout the early 80s - it was on the cup final shirts.

Don't mind the seagull, I'm a bit iffy about the collars though.

Perhaps we get too hung up on the whole traditional badge thing? Plenty of people here complained at the change from the round one to the current shield thing, and we've had loads of others on shirts over the years, from the town crests of Brighton and Hove to just a simple BHA in fancy lettering.

To my mind, the seagull is the whole essence of it, so I don't particularly have a problem with it. Everyone knows we are the Seagulls, and not many teams apart from us could get away with just a single icon on their shirts- perhaps Arsenal with the cannon, or even Palace with the eagle. Maybe they could put an embroidered BHA underneath or something to keep you all happy! I quite like the yellow shirt, it's really simple, and football shirts that are too fussy look crap.

Sometimes the simplest designs are the most classic- look at the New York Yankees NY emblem, or many US sports teams, they're instantly recognisable, and thus a dream in terms of marketing (and making the clubs money).

Just a thought anyway.

if they do it, it will be the first time i can remember the shirt coming out before the end of the season, but i can't see it myself.:nono:

They did it before, remember the pyjamas home kit and equally rank away kit with both kits having matching shirts and shorts?

For the Play Off final in season 1990/91 they wore the new away kit for the following season, and we lost 3 - 1, might be a bad omen for bringing out kits early!!

Oh the memories of that final, if we had of just scraped a win, and staying up in Division 1 the following year, we would have been one of the founder clubs for the Premier League.

And 118-118 style hair and moustaches to match the collars presumably?

(massive afros for Leon and Trevor)

Will have to reserve judgment until I see it, but having a collar back is good IMO.

The Seagull is the new club badge by the sounds of it.

We'll be proud of the club when Arsenal etc start copying us. ;)

It had bloody well better NOT be....I have just had the current club logo tatooed on my leg:angry:

its just nice to see that the club is so rich it doesn't need to bother getting its f**king arse in gear and releasing the strip well in advance of the new season so they can maximise sales.
