New toy for weather watchers

Dynamic map shows current wind directions around the globe.

Its creator Cameron Beccario drew on data from several sources, including Nasa. The bright swirls show high wind speeds, including cyclones, hurricanes and typhoons.

The wind forecasts are updated every three hours.

I've been using this site http://meteoearth.com and its associated weather app on my phone for years. I believe The BBC have just awarded them the contract for BBC weather next year
