The need for a midfielder or two is obvious - why Booker was allowed to send Hammond out on loan while in caretaker charge is mystifying.

As for strikers, we only really have two at the moment. Harty is no longer thought of as a striker and isn't good enough to play up front at this level (not denying he is usually worth his place on the wing). Wilkinson is not a striker, Marney is untried, Jake is still learning his trade. If either Leon or McPhee (or god forbid both) get injured, we are really in the shit. Saturday proved we have no other attacking options available to turn a game or offer something different.

I do not understand why we must sign loan players. They can come in and then solve a problem for a couple of months. Then they clear-off back to their proper clubs and we are left with the original problem again.

They are only worth it if we are genuinely looking to sign them permanently and having then on-loan is a way of checking them out.

Albion & England forever.

tyson has been listed at reading, apparently. would be a great striker or left winger. and to steal their highly rated young player would be brilliant. (sidwell).
but 1st thing surley has gotta be get pethick out of midfield quick, before our season is over.

We need to sort out the midfield first of all.

No creativity and hoofing = no goals

Hopefully one or two players will soon find out that they're dropped :)

I live in hope. It's about time that some of them got an almighty kick up the backside.

Tyson would be quality. Not sure how much he'd cost. Am amazed Coppell has transfer-listed him (and not Henderson??)

Maybe the player wants 1st team football and feels he's not getting a chance at Reading. Chances are limited under Coppell if you're on the bench 'cos he hardly uses subs.

True. I would definitely take both Watson and Tyson from Reading (permanently if possible) if we could afford them.

Marney is untried? The PFA player of the month for Sept 2002?

He actually did quite well for us when BZ was injured. It was our defence and pathetic keeper (Petterson) who let us down then.

McGhee needs to call Coppout and get Tyson in to replace Jonah, and the sooner we get a central midfielder in to replace Pethick the better. I can't believe it's been allowed to go on this long.

Per McGhee's interview on S/World there should be 2 new names by Saturday (if all goes to plan)

I agree with most. a battling midfilder, who can pass out to Jones and Hart on the wings. Maybe even two playes of this calibre.

The biggest problem a t the moment is no one is running off the ball to be the extra man. Do just that. Play in triangles and to feet and the game is beautiful and simple.

Oh yes. Can one of these loan or permanent signings hit a dead ball. I can't remember when we scored directly from a free kick.

Craig Hignett, apparentley has fallen out with Adams due to lack of first team football, and is good friends with McGhee.
He would be the perfect creative midfielder we need.
Sort it out quickly!!

If he's fallen out with Micky "I'm always right" Adams he's on his way out anyway so why not to us?

Baldgull have you got any more news on Gazza's interest in joining? You were pretty bullish the other day or is it smelling more like bullshit now?

Bit of info from the official msg board from a Spurs fan

"I am a spurs fan and a yeates fan so i thought i would give u some info about your new signing.

He is small and skinny (forget the chubby paddy face)

He best position is in behind the front two but not sure if that will suit your formation. He has been playing upfront for our reserves but would not be surprised to see him starting wide for you as leon knight is a small bloke as well.

He has great skill and dribbles the ball brillantly, can create and score goals.

Hope he does the business for you lads"

Sounds promsing - creativity in midfield is our immediate requirement at present.

Hopefully Zesh can play like he started off against Rushden.
