My elderly Mother-in- law has a 17 year old Mini which needs a new gearbox.

I'm looking for recommendations please in Brighton. (Preferably Woodingdean/Whitehawk areas)

Many thanks

Without knowing the mileage and condition of the rest of the vehicle I'd have still thought it would be more economical to write it off.

This will be the best part of a days labour plus sourcing another gearbox which will not be cheap to ship due to weight. Might be worth cutting it loose and finding a slightly newer Mini with less miles on.

I take on board your comments, but apart from the gearbox, it's in really good condition - only done 60,000 miles.

How on earth do you manage to mush a gearbox in only 60k miles?

I know the newer BMW mini's gearboxes are made of cheese but I thought the old BMC ones were more robust.
Have you tried local-ish breakers yards?
