FATBOY SLIM has announced details of his new single, out this autumn.

'Slash Dot Dash' will be the first cut from the dance star's long-awaited fourth album 'Palookaville'. It is released on September 13 via Skint, and will be the legendary dance label's 100th single release.

Fatboy , real name Norman Cook, said of the tune: "'Slash Dot Dash’ is a mix of old and new Slim. There is repetition but this time the track actually has live guitars! The plan was to throw in a bit of Buzzcocks and White Stripes. The track is just a comment on this new language people seem to have - although I don’t even own a computer. Well, I do, the Atari in my studio, but no one ever sent me an email on that!"

'Slash Dot Dash', which gets its premiere on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show from 7pm tonight (July 29), comes backed across the formats with a Jon Carter remix of album track 'Jin Go Lo Ba' alongside 'Close To Home' - Cook's music featured on the current 02 advert.

'Palookaville' itself is released on October 4 and features guest appearances from Damon Albarn, Lateef from, Latryx, Bootsy Collins, DJ Justin Robertson and upcoming Brighton singer Jonny Quality.

Ok - I know the one at Withdean is distorted but at least it's played by a real band and not some snotty nosed kid on his Yamaha keyboard! If you sat in the stand at the recent friendly, you'll know what I mean

You can hear in on the Radio 1 website, on Zane Lowe's Thursday show - around 14 mins in. It's played twice.

Er... not very good is it? :nono:

Why on earth play it twice? It wasn't very good the first time. Perhaps the rest of the album will be better.

Speaking previously about the record, Cook said: "It's quite different from the last few because music has moved on a lot in the last few years. Basically, I'm just experimenting with different sounds and trying not to sound like classic Fatboy.

"Damon Albarn sings on one track, Bootsy Collins sings on another and Lateef from Blackalicious has done some great stuff.

"The last album had a lot of house on it and this is getting back to my hip-hop roots more. Basically, I'm just not turned on by house music much at the moment. It's going through a fallow period and I think we need another Daft Punk."

Track listing:

‘Don’t Let The Man’
‘Slash Dot Dash’
‘Wonderful Night’ (featuring Lateef)
‘Long Way From Home’ (featuring Johnny Quality)
‘Put It Back Together’ (featuring Damon Albarn)
‘Masochistic Baby’
‘Push And Shove’ (featuring Justin Robertson)
