With the arrival of Coppola and the likelihood of less game time for Dunk is it time for a new captain?

Jan Paul van Hecke is the obvious candidate. Nailed on starter and talks like a leader.

It's unlikely Coppola will immediately be starting every game - it could take him up to a season to learn the Premier League, like most of our other young players.

There will always be injuries/suspensions/tactical decisions which mean that Dunk's playing time is unlikely to be reduced much, if at all.

For that reason, I think it's very unlikely there will be a change of captaincy.

Dunk will be the club captain.

There could be a situation where Dunk is out of the side and we have a playing captain on the pitch. I see no reason to take that role from Welbeck. JPVH would currently be next in line.

However. Lewis Dunk is being written off way too early. Let's see how his hip issue looks after he's had the summer off. My guess is that him and Van Hecke start in a back 4 for the first game of next season and both will take some shifting.

It’ll still be Dunk.

It’ll be similar as when Bruno had it, and it was ‘slowly’ passed across to Dunk before he got it permanently.

Can see Webster and Van Hecke wearing it at times as season goes on.

My feeling is that if Webdini's fitness is 100%, our starters for the first game of the season will be JPvH and Webster.

(although I wouldn't be surprised if Potter pushes to get Webster at West Ham, and I reckon £25m would do it)

This.

I have been particularly vocal about Dunk's inclusion last season.
But there is no reason to believe his days are over.

He had as many good games as bad games.
It's just we aren't used to seeing so many bad games from him.

A full pre-season and potential formation changes, could see him undroppable next season.

We'll get a better view on his position in the squad soon enough.
For now, all bets are off.

Absolutely this, #teamdunky here. In any case we have several on field leaders, naming just one player as captain is almost pointless really.
