There's a few of us Depor fans on NSC already, and if you need another reason for them to become your second team other than the facts they play in blue and white next to the sea, here you go...

I started a thread on www.deportivo-la-coruna.com about the Falmer situation. They kindly made it a sticky and it has generated some interest, good work there. But then...

Yesterday I decided not to be lazy and dust off my (bad) Spanish and put up a message at another Depor message board, the forums at www.riazor.org

I just put up a message in the Forum asking for online petition sigs and an email to prescott...

the first reply is from the admin, informing me that they have put it up on the front page of their website. Not only that but they are going to send out info in their mailing list.

check it out at www.riazor.org you can't miss it, its the headline story!!

Whenever I see Deportivo in a Champions League game I think "that could be us someday". Lots of similarities, not least their rise from poor also rans to what they are now.

Yes, I was converted to the cause earlier on this season. I know that purists will say we shouldn't have second teams, but it IS nice to watch European football and be able to support somebody.

Here is what is says:

A message of a fan has arrived of the Brighton UK asking aid. They play in the Division 2 of the English League, and need a stadium after carrying seven years without him. We recommend you its reading, such time we can help them. Complete news, I press [ + info].

Brighton (UK) needs aid

Hello to all,

I am fan of Brighton and Hove Albion and Depor. Brighton is a team that plays in 'Division 2' of the League
Ingles.

Brighton and Depor have a great deal in common. They play Blank and Blue, and the two teams are of Cities of
250,000 and coastal. Many fans of Brighton are you swell of Depor tambien. The two places are the better
cities in Espana and in England.

Now we need aid. We try to build a new stadium in Brighton. We have been without home during seven anuses.
We expect the decision of the Subprimer Minister on this projecto but last week a new report I advise that the
new stadium I should not be built in the place that the club habia chosen.

The situacion is a little dificil to explain, because I do not speak Spaniard well, but I ask some things

1 - There is a peticion aqui: ttp://www.petitiononline.com/Falmer/petition-sign.html

Please it affirms the, alone delays 30 seconds

2 - it Sends an email to John Prescott. If you want are able 'copy and even' it of down sends it to
planning.general@odpm.gsi.gov.uk

If you speak Ingles, can read all on the situacion aqui
ttp://www.northstandchat.biz/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16711

MANY THANKS TO ALL

Dear Mr Prescott,

I am writing to you concerning the Public Inquiry into to stadium at Falmer, Brighton which you till currently
overseeing.

Of private note, I would like to highlight some important issues that appear to have been overlooked in the
Local Inspecting Plan’s report relating to Brighton & Hove’s Local Plan.

1. The report does not recognise the very real difficulties of finding to suitable site in the Brighton &
Hove area.

2. The report does not reflect the overwhelming public support for the stadium project at Falmer and the
detailed consultation process that took place prior to selecting the site

The planning application clearly demonstrated:

- the need Brighton & Hove Albion have for to new stadium

- evidence of the national importance of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club

- the huge number of jobs and opportunities for education and skills training that would be provided by the
proposed development

- they go innovative sustainable transport scheme

- that the site at Falmer had the least impact of any of the very few potential sites for to stadium in the
Brighton & Hove area

I trust you will not overlook the evidence provided at the Public Inquiry, the bulk of which seems to have
been ignored by the Local Inspecting Plan in his report, and finally give the people of Brighton and Hove the
sporting facility it is am desperately missing.

Yours sincerely,

A bit of info for you on A coruna .... BTW my mother was born there..

Population: 250-300K

Ethnic Group: Celts ... more closely related to the irish than the moppets from Cataluna.
The People: layed back, drink to much, thought of as drunks by the rest of Spain, much like we view the Scots. Though not interested in breaking away from Spain like the Basque's they are trying to revive the Galleago (Galician) culture ... bagpipes and drinking (again). The area until recently was very poor, fisherman and farmers.

The main emblem of A Coruna is bloody massive light house ( about 8 stories high) called Torre de Hercules, it still works;

Most of the Spanish people in Sussex are from galicia!

The team: blue and White stripes, until 1990 spent all their existance in the lower leagues. The ground is 100-150 yards from the main beach, Playa de Riazor, hence the ground is the Razior stadium. Riazor is pronounced Ri-a-thor.

Great place ....

Boom Boom weh weh, Boom Boom La Coruna!

My mate from school is Spanish and a La Coruna fan. The year that they missed a penalty in the last minute of the last game which would have won them the league, my friend and his family flew home especially for the game.

Seems a few spanish routes on this board. My mums side of the family is from Spain, albeit her great grandad I think.
My family came to England when a distant relation of mine was the only survivor of a Spanish Smuggler's ship washed up on the South Coast.
