brighton, actually
not sure wtf is going on with that firm, first they 'lose' a big cheque, then decide the a/c i setup via the net, had to be closed...
full ID, proof of address etc taken no probs, got cashcard, and since then a pin for atm, and online transactions, though no letter to explai whats going on, as advised would be sent out, bythe local branch staff..

any clues? they qwew just as mystified, though i wonder if i have any claim for compensation, for wasting my time, etc.

the only reason i can think of, is it appears the online account was transferred by them to the local setup, which may have
confused / upset their procedures..

if nothing from the, by the weekend, may go to the press,
as could do without this, right now...

Very much doubt the press would have any interest whatsoever. I would imagine there are thousands of cases like yours every day with various banks and you've probably just been unlucky.

For what its worth, I moved the Nationwide about 4 years ago and have been very happy with them. No charges for withdrawing money, good online savings account, call centre in Swindown and not Bangalore, non profit making organisation and sponsors of football.

I've been with Nationwide since the 1980s, and I've never had anything go wrong.

The best thing to do would be to take your complaint as high as possible within the organisation, and make sure something gets done about it.
