100% effort once again - not up to standard on div two football.

IMHO one of the main reasons for lack of support to the front two - we need someone to cross the ball...Virgo was the only one last night seemingly able to do this.

Granted he set the goal up - but did little else all night.

Goes into headless chicken mode every game and makes passes that put us in danger of conceding. Didn't go last night so don't know if he had moments of madness last night. He's had enough in the past to make me nervous everytime he gets the ball.

He was capable of helping us win the game, but as capable of throwing away the three points single-handedly.

A big risk to have on the pitch at the moment IMHO. Play Piercy while Nathan builds his confidence back up in the reserves.

He will though, he put the cross in that Chippy converted.

Just shows how bereft of talent we are in midfield.

We wanted the Benny Hill theme tune to be played every time he got the ball. Someone in front of us obliged with the very tune on his mobile phone.

:lolol:

In fairness, the pitch seemed to be freezing over, and it was that kind of night all round, not just for Jones. Gary Hart's airshot typified the evening I thought.

Jones had a complete 'mare last night. His touch and control was awful, his passing was dreadful, his dribbling was laughable. 9 times out of 10, when Jones had the ball at his feet, it would end up with the opposition. I take on board the fact that he laid the ball off for Chippy to crack home the winner, but one pass in 80 minutes does not a performance make. I can't fault him for effort - he ran his socks off all night. But as far as his contribution went, he was ineffective in their half, and a bloody liability in ours.

Jones was warmly welcomed back to the bench by McGhee though, I guess because of his workrate and effort, while Leon Knight was completely blanked when he was subbed. Massive contrast that can't have gone unnoticed by anyone - it was like McGhee was making a none-too-subtle point to Leon about what it is he wants from his players.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
I actually thought he scuffed the cross for the goal.

100% shite, and a disgrace he has been given a new contract:angry:

Not wishing to overegg the pudding but I'm struggling to remember a worse performance than Jones' last night from any Albion player recently. Entirely clueless, a total liability.

And as for doing that Basil Fawlty thing when you're playing like that...it's sort-of funny and entertaining when things are going well, but when they're not...it is hard to overstate what an utter turd he looks.

Jones' temper has also cost him a full run in the team. He did try his hardest last night, and is starting to look for options around him.

The big annoyance I have had with virtually the whole team is that they do not play to feet, or run off the ball. This, I beleive, is a long term legacy left behind by previous managers.

If I was behind the scenes at the moment I would be showing old Liverpool and West Ham clips, with fluid passing, to feet with players running off the ball. Maybe we do not have that type of player, but I strongly suspect that some of the players described had to wok and develop their game.

On reflection, this will be a regrouping season, and the play offs are a slim possibility. Last nights game could have been easily won by a flowing game, and the season so far would have been far more entertaining.

The sad thing is he's guaranteed a contract next season for making a set amount of appearances this season...

I'm sorry Mr Knight but what a shit way you have of running your players contracts, you did the same with Pethick last year and how good was he this season?...

Sort it out.

Were you in a coma for most of the 1990s?

I remind you

Glenn Thomas
Mark Walton
Damian Hilton
Michael Mahoney Johnson

And going back a little further

Ricardo Gabbiadini
Valur Gislason
Gary Bull
Les Briley

Oh, I see the key to your statement was "recently". Apologies, but fortunately I have a memory bank of years worth of appalling players with which to offset the Welsh Wizard's current ineptitude!

Braders, agree heartily about Petterson, but let's face it, we could fill an encyclopedia with crap Albion players through history!
