how come the sainsbury's etc. development is allowed to be built on the brighton station site, when it will be used a lot more often than a football stadium without changes all the roads going to the site and huge public enquiries etc.?

1. Too small.
2. Traffic

Plus by the time the Inquiry was up and running, there was already a planning application in place for that site.

1. oh, fair enough.
2. that was kind of my point, the sainsbury's etc. development will surely cause more traffic?

Also the traffic wouldn't turn up and leave in one small window of time.

Unless of course the Sainsbury's was in Croyden and they had value beans at 2p a can or something - that would case mayhem.

2. Not on the scale of (potentially) an additional 22,000 descending on Brighton Town Centre to converge for 3pm kickoff on a Saturday, and all leaving at 5pm. Its bad enough on a Saturday in Brighton as it is, specially when theres a sale on at Primark.

The point about traffic is surely that sainsbury's wouldn't have 22,000 customers all arriving and leaving at the same time.

You can't fit 22,000 people in Sainsbury's....

I want to no how they managed to get the Body shop built on the edge of the downs in a similiar position to Falmer and also the recent Rolls Royce Factory at the base of the downs with no problems. so how do you reckon they would anwser that.
