Interesting as I attended a speed awareness course and the advice was there in NO allowance anymore!

two people on the course actually were clocked at 1 and 2 miles over the speed limit.31 and 62 respectively.

I have discovered the speed limiter on my car and since the course use it all the time! so many people drive like complete ****s when you drive at the speed limit, especially 20 mph around local roads. Drove to blue water this week and sticking it at 70 outside the 50 mph zones you find that there are a few people, mostly vans hammering along but actually I found it relaxing not worrying if a camera was going to ping you. Very few people drive at 50 or below in 50 zones….try it if you have a speed limiter and see how many articulated truck wankers sit up your exhaust pipe.

trying to stick to 20 mph ( now on most urban roads in wales) is really difficult as you feel like you are crawling along, which of course is the aim!
I am one of the articulated truck wankers. Would I ever tailgate, no way, if your hogging lane 2 or 3 when lane 1 is free I will flash headlights and beep then send dash cam footage to police.
If you have a sat nav compare the speeds on that to your speedometer.

Your speedometer will never be calibrated in your car, over time that will read inaccurate speeds, a truck will have his tachograph head calibration every 2 years. How often do you think roadside static cameras are calibration certificate.
Motorway speed limit should be 80 in a car equivalent to 72 MPH, with a minimum of 60. Whilst I agree that there are a few idiot lorry drivers around who will bully car drivers I'm not one of them. At the end of the day it's probably not the vehicles that kill you it's those that are in control of them. The safest vehicle on the road is a lorry. MOT every year from the first year of registration, safety inspection ever 6 to 8 weeks including a loaded brake test, normally serviced every 8 months, 5 days off the road for it's MOT and a driver who must show and prove a minimum 15 min walk around check to prove it's road worthy. Do many car driver's check the car before going out in it?

I was driving at 50 mph in the zone by clacket lane and one of your colleagues driving a artic with a trailer…red brick lorry, drove within 5 ft of me. I was in lane 1…he pulled out and drove 52 mph in lane two right next to me and at one point the trailer moved towards me. Complete wanker of a driver….closely followed by an M&S delivery arctic truck also driving 5 ft from his rear. We even witness one complete tosser driving a large grabber lorry full of building supplies hammering well over 60 in the outside lane ( which I though Lorries were not allowed in the outside lane)

seemly by his hand gestures i was a **** for driving where the brick lorry wanted to be.

on the course, we were told to drive slower than the indicated speed on the Speedo to be sure…..we were shown a scenario whereby five drivers challenged their tickets saying that the speedos on their vehicles were not configured right and they should be let off. The police force arguedthat their devices were constantly calibrated, but cars were never updated from the day they were purchased.

I did say that there are a few truck driver are idiots, I take it because of the traffic in your lane he was upset being in lane 2.
