Reading about Mark McCammon got me thinking thought about the above players all touted as immensely talented and yet they all seem to have a link. Can NSC think of any more players who have messed up there careers because of bad attitude.

Why did reading about Mark McCammon get you thinking about them. Was he a promising youngster? (genuine question).

A quote by woodchip in a previous thread and knowing Mark McCammon had an attitude at brighton, just got me thinking about how attitude and focus can affect performance.

CKR has done extremely well for himself even if now playing for a Blackburn side who are likely to be favourites to walk this league might be seen as a bit of a come down from Champions League and Turkish Super League success

You are spot-on though - Knight's failure to achieve( or should it be, ability to underachieve) is legendary though.

Richard Tiltman came with high hopes and a decent rep but people were quickly laughing at him not with him.....................

How has CKR messed up his career? Since leaving us he's become a full international and played in the champions league. In fact every club he's played for since leaving us has been a step up in his career.

Jeese some of you lot are so blinkered!

Maybe his career isn't messed up, but I swear arsenal were linked with him a few years ago?

And? Loads of clubs were supposedly interested in him after the Euros.

Has he lived up to that billing? No, but that is probably because he's not good enough. I haven't been following his career that closely but I certainly think it's harsh to pigeon hole him with the likes of Knight when every club he's played for since leaving us has been bigger than us.

If it wasn't about CKR why mention him? Certainly won't argue with you about about the other two or Macarthur.

Is he still at Rye? And does he still get himself sent off every other week?

Exactly, he hasn't lived up to the billing, he has or had bags of potential! He became a full Turkish international and had the world at his feet, it was evident at Brighton he thought he was too good for us, and he was most likely right, but that's no reason to cry about it and throw his toys out of his pram

CKR and knight are a different kind of failure, where knight couldn't have been an amazing championship striker, CKR could be playing regular premiership football, as it happens, they're doing neither

I don't think he thought he was too good for us. I think he was disappointed at not getting a decent run in the side and rather naively on his part made those feelings clear. As it turned out he was right and McGhee was wrong. McGhee got the sack and he went on to be an international footballer playing for one of the biggest teams in Europe!

Yes and look at him now, playing Championship football again, doesnt matter if MM was right or wrong, players need to respect their managers and some players either knuckle down and get on with it...take JFC for example, or throw toys out of their pram!
