[h=3]More trouble could be on the cards[/h]5:00am Saturday 9th November 2013 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Bruno was booked in this game at Yeovil
Albion are bracing themselves for bans compounding their chronic injury crisis.
Defenders Bruno and Inigo Calderon are both a booking away from suspensions against Blackburn Rovers at The Amex today.
The Seagulls are missing eight key players through injury, the latest Will Buckley.
They can ill afford to lose more but Nathan Jones believes bans for accumulating cautions are inevitable.
The assistant head coach told The Argus: “We want to stay professional in our discipline but nowadays it’s very inconsistent in how people receive yellow cards.
“If a player plays enough games and goes a full season without picking up a suspension I think you are very, very fortunate.
“I don’t think there are many that play 30-plus games that don’t pick up five bookings. It’s very difficult now with literally everything picked up on.”
Albion have collected 29 yellow cards in 14 Championship outings this season, a figure which could swell with Andy D’Urso in charge of today's clash.
The Essex referee booked eight players when Derby visited The Amex in August, including Albion trio Gordon Greer, Leo Ulloa and Vitalijs Maksimenko.
Jones added: “I wasn’t a hard player but I don't think I went through a season myself without picking up a suspension.
"I think it's even more difficult now to go through a season without doing that.
"We have picked up quite a few but we've had pretty much the same players having to play through injuries and playing most of the games. That's probably why we have picked up more than we would have liked."
