I've got a Scrumpy Jack bottle at home which I put all my silver/£2/£1 coins in and a tub for all the crappy coppers. Everytime I go snowboarding or am about to go on holiday I count up the bottle (sometimes the coppers if I have a spare few days to count it all!) and add that cash to my holiday beer money or lift pass money etc.

Last night for hits and giggles I counted up my bottle (still with 6 weeks before I go away):
£1 coins = £80
50p coins = £50
£2 coins = £16
Total = £146
and I aint even counted up all the 20p/10p/5p coins yet! All thats saved up from when I last emptied it back in february due to a loan payment I could'nt afford (whoops)

Anyway am I the only sad bastard to do this (I think its worth it especially when it comes to holidays for that extra cash for beer etc) or do other people save there pennies this way?

Just curious thats all!

No I do it but only with stuff below pound coins, I always cash it up just before christmas each year to pay for beer and stuff over christmas usually a couple of hundred quid.

I've got 2:eek: I must be really sad....

1 for coppers which is one of those 3 foot long cardboard mailing tubes....can hardly lift the bloody thing now but the other is a Jean Paul Gautier tin with only 1 and 2 pound coins in it and there is just under 300 quid's worth of next season's season ticket in it-or over 100 pints:drink:

I collect 5p 2p & 1p coins. I once cashed in £20 in 5p's, I counted my collection the other week it was about £35 in change.

glad to know im not the only one then! I'm torn between spending this years dosh on holiday or keeping it for Xmas beer money, either way I'm abit skint when it comes to both!

My next plan is to get a Scrumpy bottle or simular for EACH type of big spending coin, maybe even a small pot for spare £5 notes!

20p and downwards, normally yields 40 quid every three months or so. Might start only emptying it annually.

I have an old plastic bucket, mainly small change, usually realises about £200 in June for LeMans beers and another £200 for xmas festivities :drink:
