I think that Caicedo has surprised everyone with the speed of his improvement since April, and that is why we don’t have a replacement for him at the moment. I think he’s probably a year in front of his anticipated development and it has caught the club out, in a good way.
All the noise about him now wasn’t expected until this time next year, IMO.

Ask yourself, what did the club do when we agreed to sell Cucurella to a club paying over the odds? Upgraded to Estupinan and pocketed £45m profit.

Why did we sell Trossard? He was seemingly stinking the place out with his attitude, this was our last window to make top money for him and we already had more than suitable replacements in Mitoma and the improving Ferguson.

Every move we make is in the club’s best interests and in this case, we are best served by keeping Caicedo.

You're wrong, because you're ignoring the nuances of both deals:

1) Ultimately, everyone has their price and the buying club has to meet that price. Cucurella got lucky in the end as his was clearly met when Chelsea offered silly money. £60m FFS. Of course we accepted! You'll note Man City were sent away with a flea in their ear even when upping their £30m to £35m. He didn't "force" his move there did he?
2) Length of service is an issue. This club feels no obligation to allow its players to move to a top 6 club if they've only been here 5 minutes, and rightly so. Trossard may have sulked in the end, but to be fair he had done his time and played here for 2.5 years, and sometimes he was spectacularly good. As such, I doubt the club felt it was fair to hold out for top dollar, but equally nobody is saying his sale price was anything other than fair to all parties.

Man City offered what most would consider to be a fair price. However, we had no intention of selling at a 'fair price'. Why would we? Cucu only went because Chelsea were prepared to way way over the top to convince us to sell. They done the same with Mudryk and looks like now Enzo.
