Mill Road Park and Ride Coaches

Was anyone else less than impressed by the coaches that were used on the Mill Road Park & Ride? A mountain of steps to climb up. No standing.

Were people left waiting longer because these vehicles carry fewer passengers?

Agreed. On the way in they allowed people to stand, potentially dangerous with the gradients the bus had to negotiate on the scenic route it took, not helped by a driver who needed directions from the passengers. A one-off I hope. Do we know why they used these buses?

We had to wait much longer to get back to our car as the coaches didn't hold as many people. The "squidge up" lady who sees people onto the buses was counting people as they got on and boarded the coach to do a head count. I guess this was necessary on safety grounds, but it all took so much longer. The one plus point was that the coach driver had Harty's phone-in on the radio so we were able to listen to that en route!

We had bloody Radio 2 on the way down and Southern FM on the way back - said at the time that if these coaches were to become a permanent fixture then we ought to get a message to the coach company to make sure all drivers have to tune their radios to SCR so we get the build-up and team news on the way and Harty's phone-in on the way back!
