Andrew Crofts celebrates his goal against Nottingham Forest
Keith Andrews has urged Albion’s midfielders to keep doing their bit in front of goal.
Especially while Oscar Garcia is attacking with his wing wizards.
Andrews and fellow middle man Andrew Crofts, who has three this season, scored the Seagulls’ last two goals before the international break.
Both got a long way forward to support Ashley Barnes while Kazenga LuaLua and Will Buckley attacked out wide.
Andrews expects more of the same will be required when action resumes – especially with Albion short on strikers.
The Irish star said: “The manager doesn’t set us any goal targets.
“But the lads in the middle are looking to up their goal tally, their assists and their creativity.
“We can’t leave Ash on his own and expect him to hold up the whole back line, especially with the way we play with Kaz and Bucker staying wide, which they are fantastic at doing.”
Andrews has spoken of a revised role and is happy to get further forward when Albion return to action at Yeovil a week on Saturday.
He added: “In the last couple of games I wasn’t able to get on the ball as much as I would like just in front of the back four.
“I vacated that area and let other players drop in and get us playing.
“If I find myself a bit further forward I can hopefully chip in with a couple of shots.”
