micky adams departure/payoff

Please can somebody clear up did mickey adams resign or was he sacked? I thought dk had no intension of sacking adams during their banquet at the little chef,it then became apparent that Adams realised h was fighting a lost course and resigned,if this is true why are we paying him off?

I think it was a mutual agreement so we will pay him a fraction of his contract.
