Well done Owen, you did f*** all for the whole game, missed a sitter, then scored two goals in the last minute. Impressive..even if he did bizarrely have Peter Crouch in a headlock for the second!

Well who would want to let that long shower have the header, the game would have finished 2-2 and the ball would have finished west of Angola.

He was sitting on Crouchys shoulder so he could reach the ball

Hardly knew he was on the pitch for 85 mins but pops up with two great headers to steal it. Nice work boy wonder :clap2:

I was arguing with some spacko in the pub about Owen. He wanted Defoe in the side, reckons Owens past his best and that Defoe is now the better player. What a COCKKNOCKER. Needless to say, he went pretty quiet when Mike banged in two late goals.

Mind you, he then went on to say that the USA are amongst the 5 or 6 teams who could WIN the World Cup next year, so it would appear I'd actually spent half the evening arguing the toss with a complete mentalist.

I find it rather worrying that people like this are allowed out on their own completely unsupervised...Especially going to places where they are going to come into contact with other people.

It is not inconceivable that America could win the world cup one day. But not for a long time, as the sport is relatively young. As for arguing that Defoe should replace Owen. :jester: Was he a Spurs fan by any chance???

Got it in one. He was wering a Spurs shirt (might have been Kinkygoebels ?).

It all became apparent though when the Sunshine Variety Club coach pulled up outside to take him home. But you're right T K, it IS a worry that these people are let out unsupervised.

Defoe is more skilful than Owen and quicker, but he is nowhere near as good a finisher. Owen is the ultimate poacher, as he proved. Its not even like Defoe is in amazing form anyway, what a tit. If he thinks the yanks could win the whole thing he's obviously a mug.

I feel sorry for Mickey O that all the injuries have ruined his pace. I think thats the one thing that seperates him from the top 3/4 strikers in the world. But he's still very good.

Thats the fella. Despite his Owen / USA rantings, I just couldn't tear meself away. Things didn't go any further, but I got the impression that he'd be mine for a Reef and a packet of pork scratchings.

I am not sure his pace has really be effected. However what has improved, particualy post Madrid is his movement off the ball.

Agreed i dont think he has lost much pace, maybe a little, his movement is better but was always good, the main thing is that he is playing regular football again, and for a goalscorer that is vital just to get that extra little bit of sharpness about his game.
