Just got back from seeing this at the Komedia .

Steve North and another feller who's in Emmerdale play 2 guys, from teenagers to their mid 40s , and how Strummer and The Clash shaped their lives and views.

Absolutely bloody superb . Lots of Clash tunes , very funny and frighteningly autobiographical for me .

I would say go and see it , but it's going to Edinburgh next.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Would have loved to go but didnt know about it until i read this thread

Dont you have to be 18 to get into the Komedia anyway? If so I wouldn't have been able to anyway:(

I was actually fortunate enough to meet Joe Strummer once.

He came out here once with The Mescalleras for and event called the Big Day Out.

But before that gig they held another show in a Venue called the Corner Hotel in Richmond,Melbourne, its a legendary pub for alternate type bands and has this great 70's/80's feel about it.

The place was packed and i have to say out of all the bands iv'e seen this show will never ever be bettered.

To hear all those great old songs sung by the man himself was just brilliant.

After the show we went round back of the venue and he came out back so i got to meet him and talk to him for a little while.

Absolute gem of a man, modest and down to earth.

There's a story i like to tell about this night that sums up what kind of man he was.

Before the gig we were standing out the front waiting to get in, and there were four 15 y/o kids in line, now this was an over 18 gig, i asked how were they gonna get in?

They said that they had been walking through the city earlier that day and noticed Joe walking along with some groceries, they rushed up and like star struck kids wanted autographs etc

Joe then said hey guys come along to my gig, so he organised tickets for them(the show was already a sell-out) and organsied for one of his entourage to chaperone the boys for the night and got them back stage and all.

Joe Strummer will always be remembered by me as a gentleman and a legend of the music industry and one of the rare breed of artist that never forgot about his fans.

 Joe Strummer

Can only repeat what Eric said. Get your tickets now Skintagain. I was there last night too and it was excellent. Great memories...look out for 'Infernal Combustion!', they sounded good. Also great little sketch on Thatcher plus the obvious great music. I am going to have to listen to working for the clampdown again!!

Bugger would've loved to see this, my old man would've too :(

I had a PISS next to Joe at the 100 Club in London shortly before his set with the Mescaleros (sp?)

Met Joe a couple of times...Hastings Pier in the 1970s spent time having a beer and talking to the band after the gig
Then about 5 years ago at a farm shop in the West country..he was buying some cider...spent ages talking about music much to the annoyance of my wife and kids and his.

Met Joe in the Vigin Megastore on Western Road in the eighties. he was sighning copies of Earthquake Weather. Sadly for him there wasn't many people there, but happily for me that meant I got to chat to him for ages. Totally friendly top bloke and a big hero too me.
The show sounds good wish I'd seen it.
