Have just been on the end of an (unreasonable) hammering after my last post 'Standing up in the North Stand - row p behind goal'. Those more literate members of the forum would have read it more carefully and seen that I actually prefer to stand and was merely posing the question.

I do however take issue with the gentleman who sits/stands next to me and has Liverpool 'wallpaper' on his mobile phone. This doesn't sit/stand comfortably with me.

Could there be some kind of 'means test' for people wishing to apply for, or renew, their season tickets for next season? Prime spots in the north stand could perhaps be reserved for fans who can prove (I still wear the scars) that they drove to the shit hole of Gillingham every second week for example.

Just because someone prefers to sit to watch the Albion (not me btw!) does not automatically make them a JCL (surely only a moron would think it did), having Liverpool 'wallpaper' on their phone does.

Who's in favour of a means test? And what could it entail?

I'm all in favour of a means test, the only problem is that the stadium would probably only be half full.
How far do you want to go back? I saw Peter Taylor's first home game, Ward's debut, stood in St James's away end when we got promotion to Div 1, went to a couple of FA Cup Finals with Jimmy Melia and as well as the more recent Gillingham jaunts.
OK, end of history lesson, who cares. What is important is that TB gets the revenue back he poured into the club in order for us to progress. If that means the AMEX being filled with with new supporters who gives a damn. With success our own fans will fill those spaces, but it takes time and we can wait, we have been waiting for years anyway.
I'm not the guy with the wallpaper whatever and don't ask about my avvie as it's been told to death anyways.

Have you considered publishing any of your beautifully constructed (but deep) writing? It's wrong that the Greeks and French should have a monopoly on deep philosophy. Really, you should. Plato, Descartes, Hurstpierpointseagull.

You don't actually know what a 'means test' is.

Maybe you're the one being self righteous. A lot of things can happen between January when the tickets were bought and attending matches now. Changes in health for example.

Then contact the club and request a temporary (or permanent) seat move to an area where there is not persistant standing?

The way I see it is, that over time these 'premier league' fans will grow to love the Albion as much as we do. Its only a matter of time before you realise that watching live football, is so much better than being an armchair supporter. But as for testing loyalties goes, at Gillingham we had crowds as low as three thousand at times. So if your idea got off the ground, we would be rattling around our lovely new home, with all the atmosphere of a Sunday afternoon at Asda. Although I suppose it would be easier to get a beer like that.

I cannot afford a seat in another area as the prices in the North stand are the most I can afford. I'm not asking for sympathy but understanding. I know you are young and healthy now but that will change in time although I hope not.
As for being a jcl, I am from the Goldstone years.
