Chris McPhee scores his second against Blackpool in 2003
Chris McPhee was the Albion hero last time they won at home to Blackpool.
The young striker scored twice as the Seagulls won 3-0 at Withdean on their way to promotion via the play-offs.
McPhee netted in each half – with Leon Knight playing provider on each occasion - after Danny Coid had scored an own goal in the 2003-04 season.
The win took Albion top of the third-tier table but was played out amid increasing concern that boss Steve Coppell was about to move to Reading.
Scott Vernon scored twice when Blackpool won a Sunday afternoon televised clash 3-0 at Withdean three years later.
The sides drew 2-2 at The Amex last season as a Kevin Phillips double cancelled out strikes from Craig Mackail-Smith and Ashley Barnes.
