McIlroy quits as Northern Ireland boss to take over Stockport

Sammy McIlroy has resigned as manager of Northern Ireland and is set to sign a three-year deal with Second Division Stockport County.

McIlroy was given permission to speak to Stockport on Tuesday and he could be installed as the club's new manager as early as Wednesday afternoon.

Cant see them enjoying a goal spree :glare:

Maybe N.I. will do the decent thing and merge with the Republic and put out an 'Ireland' team like they do in Rugby League, Rugby Union and Boxing to name but three sports.
