McGhee and Butters in bust up...

Mark Mcghee was involved in an amazing training ground bust-up at Falmer yesterday, after criticising the attitude of Albion defender Guy Butters. The pair were seen to square up to each other during a routine practice match, when Butters mis-kicked an attempted clearance straight to young striker Jake Robinson, who then tucked the ball away for his second goal of the game. It seemed that McGhee took exception to Butters laughing after the incident, and made his feelings known. Butters walked off, got into his car and left the training ground immediately. The Argus followed Butters home, and I was allowed upstairs to Butters' bedroom after his wife Karen let me in. There I saw Butters laying on his bed, face down into a pillow, sobbing uncontrollably. After I'd managed to calm him down with some soothing words and a packet of Lemon Bon-Bons, Butters revealed his inner torment and the problems he is having in forming a relationship with the new Albion boss.

"He's got it in for me" said Guy. "Ever since he got here, he's been having little digs at me. All the time. Me, me, me, its not fair. I kick it this way, he says I should have kicked it that way. I pass to Kerry, he says I should have passed it to Chippy. I head it off for a throw-in, he says I should have left it for Michel. Nothing I do is ever good enough, and then when he shouted at me today, that was just the last straw. Steve (Coppell) never once shouted at me, but McGhee shouts all the time. I just can't take any more of this. I AM trying my very bestest, I really am". At this point Guys face crumpled again, so I reached for a tissue. "There there" I said, softly dabbing away the snot and tears which were once more cascading down Guys tortured features. "I'll speak to Mark and Martin, and it'll all be alright in the morning". After tucking him in, I made my way back to the training ground.

However, when I brought this up with McGhee, the uncompromising scotsman was unrepentent. "Guys got to learn to do things ma way" Said McGhee. "Coppells been too soft on the lad. I'm deen it fa his own good. If he cannae dee it ma way, he's oot of this club as far as I'm concerned. Ah'm no fannying aroond w' the likes of heem if he cannae take a bit of flack when he's shite".
I tried to bring the matter up with Martin Perry, but he was in a foul mood after another sleepless night with Dick. "Look Randy, I've been up all night with the chairman. He's got a terrible cough, is suffering with trapped wind and now his eczema's flaired up again. I've only just managed to get him down now, so I'd appreciate it if you could just leave right this minute, and close the door quietly behind you. He'll be grouchy all day if he doesn't get a couple of hours now".

I'm not after any awards (honest !). Just trying to amuse myself during a dull day at work, and raise a chuckle in the process. There are posters who've done funnier stuff and over a longer period.
