Totally dull topic, but i've just bought a virus scan package off www.mcafee.co.uk and the bastard won't download properly. It gets to about 60% and then crashes. Has anyone had similar experience or think of a solution? There must be a few computer experts out there!

I had a free trail of McAfee Virus Scan when i got my computer, however as soon as it expired I downloaded the free version of AVG Antivirus. Its always up-to-date, catches anything suspicious, and best of all you don't have to pay a penny!

Just an idea if your looking?

This is exactly what I did and can second DiG's advice. AGV is top and free!

I'd get a refund and buy Norton.

No No No No No!! Norton is UTTERLY SHITE. Do not TOUCH ANY products made by Symantec after 1995. ANY OF THEM.

AVG, if you must have antivirus, at all.

What do you mean by that? Everyone NEEDS antivirus and firewalls, the internet is alive with worms and bugs. Don't even THINK of entering the 'net without protection!

Firewall - yes, essential
Decent web browser, e.g. not IE - utterly essential
Running Windows Update weekly - utterly essential

Antivirus - far from essential
Anti-Spyware app - far from essential

The latter two just clean up after users mistakes. If you have the first three you don't need the latter two.
