Meanwhile, Kerry Mayo has defended his role in the red card row with Terrell Forbes of Queens Park Rangers.

Forbes was sent-off in the second half of Monday's win for head-butting Mayo. The former West Ham fullback retaliated after a tackle for which Mayo was booked.

Several of Forbes' team-mates protested that Mayo over-reacted by going down, even though he needed two stitches in a cut above his left eye.

Mayo, speaking for the first time about the flashpoint, said: "To be fair I deserved to be booked for the tackle, although I was genuinely going for the ball.

"I watched it on TV and he kicked out at me before he got up and head-butted me.

"I wasn't going to go down, hence the delay, but you can't head-butt people and get away with it. That is the reason why I went down.

"You can say I over-reacted or what you like, but if he had head-butted me and I had stood up the ball was five yards away, the ref could have had his eyes on the ball and it might not have been seen.

"If you are going to get head-butted you have got to go down, it's as simple as that.

"None of our players here would lash out like that, it's just unprofessional. It was as clear as day on the video and he won't get away with that."

Mayo's fellow fullback Paul Watson is suffering from sore arches as Albion prepare for a Bank Holiday double header at Barnsley on Saturday and at home to Luton next Monday.

Boss Steve Coppell revealed: "He has been complaining about it right from the start of pre-season. It's not footwear, a change of boots or anything, it's just something that has come on."

What the f*** are sore arches ???

As for Mayo's defence.....hmmm.....I dont like play acting but he has a good point, the ref might not of noticed if he stayed on his feet!

Your arches are (basically) the bit between the back of your toes and the front of your heal (foot we are talking here, look at your bare foot and you should see a bit of your foot not touching the ground, this is the arch. If, like me, you don't have a bit of your foot that does not touch the ground you suffer from what is known as "flat feet" which is a good excuse as to why, you can't run, control a football etc etc etc.).

Sore arches can be caused by new footwear (its not moulded to your foot shape yet) or by a whole load of other things.

Sore arches can be very painful if having to walk, stand on them for a long time (one reason why it is recommended you "break in" new walking boots before going on a long walk with them. Running with sore arches must be very painful indeed.

for more on feet arches (no this should not be in the fettish thread) see http://www.serv.net/~skimber/footarches.htm

blimey thats the exact same problem I've had for years! After a days riding on fresh snow a few years back my right foot was killing me, sometimes I've had to stop for 15mins until the pain went away. Now when riding to and from work I get the same thing, I wanna sort it out cos I'm off to the Alps in december...thanks for the link marvin :)

Just wached the slow-mo of the incident again. It actually shook KM's head back. Maybe an over-reaction from Kerry, but Forbes got what he deserved, bar steward. 2 stitches tells the story.

OI Rangers. Stop yer moaning. :censored:

When I was 14 the quack suggested an exercise which was to place the left foot flat on the floor whilst sitting in an upright position. (IE your knees are bent) Then to slide the big toe of right foot up the side of the left leg from ankle to knee. Visa versa if you want to work on the left foot. About 10 a few times a day I think it was but it was a long time ago so I accept no blame for any damage from doing this exercise.
