Marvellous Scenes - A question

I introduced a couple of friends to the joy of "Marvellous scenes" in the pub last night. However, a question arose. What is the opposite of "Marvellous scenes"? I suggested "Appalling scenes" but there was also support for "Disgusting scenes", "Horrendous scenes" and even "Outrageous scenes". Which "scene" is the correct one?

I did one of those dictionary look-ups and got these less than marvellous opposites:

commonplace, ordinary, routine; blah, unexciting, uninteresting

scenes of blah, anyone?
