A lot of if’s, buts and maybes here and a large amount of grasping at straws…. But.

What is the cut off should a decision be made to deduct points from them, meaning it applies to this season and what date would see any potential deduction be applicable to next season?

(See where I’m going here? 🤣)

The PL won't want it to affect a season just finished.

I imagine if there is an announcement it will be after the league cut off
Which is when out of curiosity?

There was rumours circulating at the weekend that a decision is imminent and MCFC also want it done and dusted.

This is getting like the Brexit 'debate'.

"It has gone on and on for so long it would be best to leave
it and let Citeh get away with whatever it was (I'm bored now)."

This is how injustices are perpetrated.

That makes no sense. Will they want to affect a season that hasn't started instead? With Everton and Forest they chose to affect a season that was in mid-swing, so why should this case be different (given that the case finished mid-season)?

What's the league cut off?

Surely any points deduction will now be for next season, as the competition effectively finished shortly before 6pm last night?

Everything happens for a reason, if Gus had taken us up in 2013, would we have come straight back down again given the apparent budgetary issues?, and along the same lInes I think the ongoing development of Fab’s managerial career and the club as a whole will benefit from not playing in Europe next season.

It is the ideal time for a fudged sentence. Enough points deducted to kick them out of Europe with no relegation and no title to give up. But we all know money talks.

It is easier to apply a massive points deduction to an upcoming season than a previous one, there is less you have to adjust.

I tend to agree it should be for this current season, but they will go for the easier option.

No one knows the decision date. When the commission concludes on the guilt or otherwise the two parties (City and PL) will be given 24 hours to read and digest the verdict before a formal publication.

There is a good chance that the verdict will be announced in terms of innocence or guilt but the punishment, if any, deferred and will be separately announced some time later.

My understanding (as discussed on another thread) is that City and the PL will then have 14 days to appeal the decision to CAS.

Any appeal could take months as happened with the UEFA case.

(And it’s not contingent on happening ‘soon’ because it’s the end of the PL season as someone tried to argue yesterday)

I can't see how it's easier.

The thing is, City want to win titles, and they didn't win this one anyway. Would they prefer:
a) to be relegated now (they've already got to enjoy their season), next season win the Championship, and in 2026/27 be challenging for the PL again
b) have a points deduction for the start of next season, making it a write-off from the start, and they can't get back to the PL until 2027/28?

Also, from the PL perspective, having a team playing the whole season knowing it's a pointless exercise and putting completely different strength teams out each week, is bad for the league.

I can't see the benefit for anyone in postponing it.
