Man survives 100ft cliff plunge

A man who fell about 100ft from an East Sussex cliff was found fully conscious at the bottom, emergency services say.
The man had been driving on the A259 near Rottingdean when his car skidded and collided with the side of the road at about 0630 BST on Sunday.

After getting out of the car, the 42-year-old fell and landed on a pile of builder's sand, Sussex Police said.

The man, who was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, is believed to have suffered a broken leg and pelvis.

According to police, the pile of sand he fell on was being used for building work being carried out in the area.

"He's a lucky man... he landed on the only patch of soft stuff in the area," a Solent Coastguard spokesman said.

An investigation into the incident is being carried out and police are urging any witnesses to contact them

On the ocean wave
I heard it was down Newhaven...in which case he probably landed in a large mountain of shite!

And how would a Solent coastguard spokesman know what goes on at Rottingdean?
This is another Meridian ploy to relocate Brighton (the coolest place in the south) near their bit of water (remember that map someone posted on here the other week?)

No, the coastguards serving Sussex are based at Solent and Dover.

So much mis-reporting on this one.

One daily said he fell 100 feet and that the pile of 'whatever' was ten feet wide, when clearly in the photo comparing the 'pile' to the passers-by it could have been four times that - 40 feet.

The Argus said he fell 150 feet and onto a pile of builders' rubble. Can you imagine what might be in a pile of builders' rubble?

If it was soft sand which it looked like from the photos then I can understand how he survived.

Clearly the press write their own stories and don't report the facts. Sounds familiar?
