How do you enforce it full stop? It would criminalising something that's currently not illegal, creating more work for the police, clogging up the courts even more.

What do you want criminalise next? A shortage of pies at football stadiums?

Well the reasonable argument is that a law that is totally unforcable is a pointless law....

Why would you call for a change in the law for something that hardly effects anyone ?

Do you or anyone know a person that has ever needed this protection ?

Whats with all this banning mentality ?

anyone against this, you wouldnt mind if i sat in your garden, took some snaps and published the pictures? what if i did the same of your family, no problems with that right?

put simply its an invasion of privacy, that is what is illegal.

This is the first time or subject that I have thought that banning is fine. Help

Cannot see argument against this.

it is illegal.

No it's not. There is no privacy law in England and Wales. Max Mosley is taking his case to ECHR saying that the English courts are not applying Human Rights law appropriately and it may be that this will change. But as the law currently stands there is no right to privacy.

I'm sorry but this is just ridiculous. To say that you wouldn't be happy with something is the same as saying it should be illegal is just nonsense. People aren't happy that pies are not available - that should be illegal? People aren't happy that buses don't turn up on time - that should be illegal? No, I wouldn't necessarily be happy if pictures were taken of my family but that's a long, long way from saying that should be made illegal.

We went through all this with Google. People who were snapped by Google could apply to have their pictures removed - and the company complied - to make what they're doing illegal strikes me as very heavy-handed.

I talking about nudity. We could play semantics but I think culturally it's agreeable.

The Albion post pictures of fans on the website though and do not ask permission.

fair point, im probably thinking about the french thats been in the news today.

thats not fair point as the issues are clearly utterly different. one could go on from your line of reason and end up with nothing should be illegal. there is no good reason for some things to be covered by law and privacy is certainly one of them.

I don't get why this is suddenly so offensive. For years photos of other celebrities sunbathing nude have been published without question (catherine zeta jone, Natalie Portman, Zhang Ziyi), photos of celebrities accidentally exposing themselves (Emma Watson, Ashley Tisdale, Courtney Cox) and sports stars (especially competitive swimmers, water polo players etc who have accidental costume slippage) and no one gets up in arms about their photos being published.

Note, I've not picked people like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan etc. who frequently find themselves naked in public, almost as if it was deliberate, I've picked people who do not make a habit of appearing nude in public and in their films, people who are not famous for the sake of being famous, but who do a job that happens to bring them fame. They have as much right to privacy as the royal family, yet people see their lack of privacy as nothing to get worked up about.

Yes, the French have had a privacy law for some time - that's why Mitterand's daughter with his mistress was never mentioned.

It is fair point. You asked would you be happy about pictures of my family being published with the implication that answer 'no' means that I'd agree that should be illegal. I profoundly disagree that this is the case, it's perfectly possible to be unhappy with something without agreeing that it should be made illegal.
