I watched madness at glastonbury on tv last night, im quite prepared to be corrected but i dont think madness are a glastonbury or a big stadium type group, despite the success of madstock etc i dont think they quite "work" in that environment and are much better in a more enclosed space like wembley arena or the brighton centre where you get hot and sweaty and feel much closer to the action, what do others think ?

Saw a bit of them at Glastonbury before wandering off to see something else and yes, I probably agree with that assessment. Yes they were fun, but I preferred them when I saw them in Bournemouth IC.

Brighton factually.....
Agreed they are best in smaller venues, i was lucky enough to see them play the Dublin Castle a few years back as the Dangermen which was just fantastic

Most bands work better in small venues. I'm not sure I'd classify the Brighton Centre or Wembley Arena as small though. Wembley was a barn last time I went there - shittiest atmosphere of any gigs I've ever been to.

was it madness ?

No, but I despair of anyone trying to overcome the dismal acoustics in that place (admittedly I've not been there in many years, but I doubt the building owners have been able polish the turd in my absence).
