Madejski last night on radio berkshire........

Got something to say or just want fewer pesky ads? Join us... 😊

The match report in the independent made reference to Readings sparsely populated stadium and "anaemic support"!?.....If Gillinghams support really was only 200, that is nothing short of pathetic!

Still, Reading and SC are last weeks news now. Will it all end in tears for Copout?.....I do hope so!....

Crabtree, the Goldstone only held 13,000 at the end and then we opnly filled it twice for what were our last games to ever be played there. When we were last in Div one we averaged 8-9,000. Why does everyone think well get better than what Reading are now? I for one am not convinced!!!!

Well we was not a well run club then as the 90s says it all and the goldstone is not a brand new stadium is it.

Your not convinced ha ha you need help as we will have great crowds i no.

The club is reborn and the interest in the last 4 years has been massive and you should no by now how many have applied for tickets as has been mentioned many times.

You spend to long on readings boards thats your problem!:censored:

Straight away we will sell about 10k season tickets at least and the rest will speak for its self and we can all at last take our mates and do it properly as we used to.:clap2:

I find these stats impressive in the lower leagues etc and as i said the 90s was a major down turn in the club.

There is some great average crowds there in the bottom divisions and the new stadium will be booming.:clap2:

My arse. 13,000 for a team that isn't performing and with 200 opposition fans isn't bad at all. In the corresponding fixture last year there were 11,000 fans. So an improvement.

Strangely, over half of this division can't do that, so I'm OK with that.

Wilts i was talking to a royal at work as usual and said about that crap gills following and he replied no they had about 1000-1200 so why did he say that mmmmmm.:p :drink: :drink:

Berks, I think your mate was closer than Wilts. I reckon Gillingham brought about 800.

The Goldstone figures were very suspect towards the end. We either have the fattest fans in the land or they were being fiddled by a few thousand. We were also at the bottom of Div 3.

13,000 for a midweek game when you've just appointed a new manager and aspire to the Premiership is crap.
like ive said before the best one was the Barnet midweek game near the end of the season when it was given out as 9,000 when the ground was packed solid.on the last game when it was a 13,000 sellout it was nowhere near as full.

I think we do have rose tinted specs when it comes to what our old crowds were like... BUT take into account how shit we were back then, and also that football is now just so much more fashionable than it ever was. Stick us in a decent stadium and we will top 10000 easy in mid-table Div 2. Add a few thousand more for mid-table Div one, and full for the big matches and promotion pushes!
