Ask Siri it says but siri can't find anything on my mac. Even simple things like Chrome and Safari, is it just a bit shit or have i got something set up wrong?

My wife is having a mare with the latest Sierra update as all her files have gone to the cloud and whilst Big Mac is ok her little Mac has lots of empty folders. Anyone know how to resolve this
