Thoughts please.

I guess he has 'done his time' under the law of the land, which of course failed the two young lads that were killed by his reckless action. People that drink and drive should automatically get a life driving ban (if above a certain limit over the legal limit) and a lengthy ban if over the limit at all.

He joined Oxford United on deadline day so hope he is given the opportunity to follow his career nothing will bring back the children but he should be allowed to do the job he knows best. He will obviously get stick from away supporters and I am sure that he is aware of that.

Good luck to him, was a brilliant goalkeeper and served his time. Difficult subject, but he deserves to move on with his life.

He shouldnt even be on the street, let alone playing football.
I know people will say he has served his time etc, but if they were your children would you still feel the same? of course not.

Very difficult situation and yes I am eternally grateful that they were not my children or grandchildren but all the sympathy etc will not brig back those children nor be consolation for their family, but I believe he should be allowed to continue his career..

Yes, I would. How long can you hold on to rage? How long can your anger control you? At some point you have to make your peace and get on with life. That time has long since come.

Doesn't mean I don't feel sorry for the family, but life carries on.

I personally do not think that his playing football should be an issue, as I think he should still have a very long sentence to serve. 4 years for 2 kids and injuring 3 others, that is a travesty of justice.
Below is the wiki page concerning the crash

Car crash and conviction

On 7 June 2008, McCormick was arrested by patrol units of the Central Motorway Police Group on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Returning from the wedding of former team-mate David Norris,[6] McCormick's Range Rover collided with a Toyota Previa at 5.45am between junctions 15 and 16 of the southbound M6 motorway, near to Keele Services in Staffordshire. The crash resulted in the death of Arron and Ben Peak, aged ten and eight, from the Partington area of Manchester.[7] Their father, Philip, the driver of the Previa, was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire with fractures to the neck, back, ribs and swelling of the lungs; while a 49-year-old man and his two sons, aged eight and fifteen, were treated for minor injuries. The group was travelling from the Manchester area to Silverstone in Northamptonshire to watch the World Series by Renault motorsport event.[6]

The following day, McCormick was charged by Staffordshire Police with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol in his blood, and driving with no insurance. He appeared at Fenton Magistrates' Court on 9 June and was granted conditional bail until 16 June when he appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.[8] At this hearing the charge of driving without insurance was dropped against McCormick and the case was adjourned until 8 September and subsequently to 6 October.[9]

On 2 July 2008, McCormick was suspended by Plymouth Argyle,[10][11] and his contract was cancelled by mutual consent on 22 July.[12] He pleaded guilty to charges of causing death by dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol, and received a sentence of seven years and four months' imprisonment and a four-year driving ban on 6 October.[13] McCormick served time at both HM Prison Ranby and HM Prison Channings Wood before being released from HM Prison Leyhill on 6 June 2012.[

I wouldnt want him near my club. Being a fan of a club would be compromised as I wouldnt be able to support him. He may have done his time legally but that doesnt wipe clean what he has done.

Another nail in the coffin of the club, brought about by another idiotic decision by the manager. Chapman, another player at the club, who has also murdered someone in a car, also rankles fans. To kill children through drink driving is unforgivable.
Protests planned for Southend, tomorrow.

Sorry mate but that is the biggest load of twaddle I have read on probably the whole internet.
What your basically saying is that if a man killed your two boys then you would have moved on by now, let go of the rage as life carries on?
Think about it as its easy to say but very hard to actually do. I have two boys and I cannot even imagine it, seriously does not bare thinking about

We as ordinary football supporters of a club have no say in the administration of the law and as such have to accept that those who do have greater knowledge of the events than we do. Having been given a punishment in line with the guidelines we have to accept this and allow him to carry on his life rightly or wrongly and irrespective of personal views as to the punishment given..

Granted that we have no say, but where is the decency? who in their right minds would want him to play for their club? who would employ him?

I am in no way either a pushover or a hardman, but if I saw the guy walking in the street im not sure I could keep my hands off him. Okay some could say he was just misguided but the reason I do not get pished is so I do not do this sort of thing.

As for the legal system, what a Joke!! I could get started on by someone and end up accidentally killing the bloke and get 20 years. But get pished and kill two kids and injure three others and your out in four years, ridiculous

It's an emotional subject, and you obviously feel passionately about it which is understandable. But my mentality is different.

Easy to say when they weren't your little boys, I know.
