Lost Luggage

I've just come back from New York; made the front page of The Argus for surviving 'Superstorm Sandy'. I flew with Delta but they've managed to loose my luggage. I was wondering if anyone has any advice as what to do in this situation, apparently my bag is in Heathrow but 'they don't (actually) have it'

i'm afraid i could only give you a tale of woe about my experiences of this, so i'll stay quiet and leave you with some hope for now...

Happened to me back in April at Gatwick.
Waited at the carousel til everyone else had gone and just a couple of stray cases were left going round and round (neither of which was mine) so figured there was a problem. Reported it at the desk, they double checked the flight but couldn't locate it so I filled out the forms and went home bagless.
2 days later it was delivered to my door by courier! It had turned up in Newcastle!! Bit of a nightmare but all came good in the end so there is hope.
