Nah only joking. Went home last night and had a chat with the missus. Didn't go steaming in laying down the law like a caveman (thanks edna), and was clever enough to print out the NSC advice from yesterday, turn it into note form and scribble it onto my left palm. Every time I got stuck I took a sneaky peep.
The missus had fairly strong reservations about the dinner date as well so we came to the NSC sponsored conclusion that she would suggest a drink after work instead of dinner. That way its not such a big event, she doesn't have to scrub up, she can drag a colleague (or her boss) along and it is much easier to leave a pub early without causing offence. I also insisted that I be available to meet her there afterwards (to prevent him from escorting her to a taxi and making a lunge, but didn't tell her that), another NSC pearl of wisdom.
All sorted. Her career will not be damaged, she won't be put in an awkward situation and I won't do life cracking rocks with a hammer. It's hard to see now how I got so worked up, but I guess jealousy is not a rational emotion.
A few thoughts I am left with;
1) If you are going to stab someone in a jealous rage, do not use a breadknife. Breadknives are rounded and have thin flimsy blades likely to snap before causing serious harm. Use a carving knife as these are sharp and have strong firm blades.
2) If you are considering stabbing someone (with any type of knife), do not go onto NSC first to state your intent and gague reaction. This will not go down well with the judge.
3) I have now been given relationship advice from Kev the Ape. Not sure how this leaves me, I will have to go into a dark corner to contemplate the implications.
Thanks all
PS Easy 10. You must get out more.
