Loan signings from Reading

I have just returned from a weeks holiday and been catching up with the last weeks news and see we are taking on loan Darius henderson. Why? Am I the only one that believes that wanker pardew's intentions towards us are not entirely honourable and that if he does well for us he will be taken back ala rougier.

Has Coppell not worked that out yet or is he being paid as some kind of unofficial scout for reading FC.

It is very likely we'll take Henderson back, but he's a 2nd choice striker to Shaun Goater and Nicky Forster. If either get injured, then Pards will want to play either Henderson or Butler, who are both as good as each other at the moment, with Henderson looking the brighter talent and needing a prolonged spell of first-team football to develop him.

It benefits us, it benefits Brighton, so everyone's happy! I can assure you it won't be like the Rougier scenario this time about.

Good response but I don't like our club dealing with a guy who publicly said he had some satisfaction at seeing us at the bottom of the league last season even if he is one of coppells 'mates'. I'd like to know if any fellow supporters think likewise.

I don't think the Pards liking you going down was anything against Coppell, the fans, or the players... he's just bitter about not winning the championship after being 15 points ahead. To a manager I imagine it means a hell of a lot, so the satisfaction was only to make him feel that he was right (although still wrong!).

If it had been any other club I imagine he'd feel the same, but his dry and sarcastic sense of humour doesn't come across very well in interviews or fans forums. On our official site he's had to clarify his statement about Wycombe and Brentford managers what with the Henderson deal. They're actually his good mates, but he's had a few results over them recently (Brentford obviously), and Wycombe (Sanchez is a Reading legend but we always beat his team). He doesn't realise that the press will jump on him http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~407991,00.html

I'd just keep an eye on Pardew to make sure he doesn't do it too often, as you are doing... I hope he doesn't have any intentions of affecting any other club adversely. Seems a good man at heart unlike the Warnocks of this world :)

Bottom line is that Pardew is a wanker who believes that he can get on in football by being a ****. Unfortunaely this is true otherwise Steve Coppell would be manager of Manchester United.

I am amazed that, apart from the short lived disaster at Man City, that SC has never been at a big club. Is it because he is so dour (on the surface) and not considered a "larger than life" manager that the big boys aren't interested? One of life's mysteries to me.

great quote from a bloke sitting behind me at the leicester game "Coppel looks like a lost orphan!" - relating to his dodgy socks and his shorts halfway up his chest!
He does come across as the silent lost type of person, but he knows his footy :)
