Little Bastards of Hastings

Went to Hastings yesterday to have a game of mini golf on the Clambers course with my wife and daughter and then went on the pier for ten minutes and got back to the car to find this massive rock the size of a football had been smashed through the rear passenger window.

The bastards stole my daughters handbag which was on the floor and tried to get the car radio but they couldn't get it out.

This nice old man found the bag behind his car a short distance away and luckily it had her name and phone number in and he kindly rang us and we got the bag back.

They obviously didn't want the glitter babes make up but they took the 85p from her purse and her mobile phone. The phone was an old one of mine which she had on PAYG after I had mine upgraded so it didn't cost anything.

Moral of the story, anyone who want's to play mini golf in Hastings don't park in the clambers car park.

You should be able to get the phone locked by the sevice provider. It won't get it back but you might get some satisfaction from making it worthless for them :censored:

As soon as I got home I got the sim card cancelled and the phone black listed so its worthless to them. Small consolation is the money left on the sim card is kept and can be transferred onto a new one once we get it sorted

Some of the best nights out that you can have in Hastings come for 85p.

In fact, no-one in their right mind would spend more than £2 on a night out in Hastings.

Well that's your mistake, right there.

Oh I know that, unfortunalty my daughter is 10 and even though she knows not to leave anything on show that's valuable sometime she forgets, and I know I should have checked before we left the car. However, the bag was in the floor well and the back seat did have macdonalds rubbish on it from lunch on the way so it would have taken a good look through the window to spot the bag, which to be honset is obviously a childs handbag, amongst the rest of the rubbish that was there.

On a train...
I have to deal with the little wankers from Hastings and Bexhill reguarly on the train.

You've got the two extremes, the lovely old ladys, and then you've got the little shits who go and hide in first class or the toilets to try and get a free ride on the train.

But sadly the train won't move until either (a) they got off or (b) the police remove them from the train. They do not have an option to pay, as none of them have any money.

SCUM

This is one of my only gripes about living in the UK. The high level of petty crime and other forms of anti social behaviour that nobody wants to do anything about

You would have thought in the current technological climate and the high rate of mobile phone theft it would be simple and advantageous to be able to track the location of phones, especially when they are switched on. Then we could catch these theiving bastards.

Gazwag. Real shame that it ruined your day. Guarantee there's as much chance of it being adults as children. That area is renowned for organised car crime. There are Police signs dotted around that whole area that identify the fact and the very real risk of theft/damage. Back of the White Rock (same area just below where you parked - where the two hill roads converge) is even worse. The thieves know that people are either at the theatre, at Clambers itself, playing golf, bowling, tennis, on the Pier etc. and have a great opportunity to thieve at leisure. It's an obvious area for tourists/day trippers to park up yet woefully under policed.

In fact the occasional Police warning sign seems to be the only effort they make. Can't recall seeing cameras up there either (not that they're a subsitute for real police).

shingle - I agree totally. It is awful here for that sort of thing and yet the council tax we pay is astronomical. Collect my rubbish, light the streets, and crack down meaningfully on crime/anti-social behaviour. That's the main things we ask. Fancy seafront lighting, err, maybe later, community wardens, err, no if they have no power to do anything, speed camera/humps, if there needed and there's any money left, ok. Seems the same everywhere which is why we start to accept it as the norm I suppose.

Clambers do have CCTV camera pointing at the car park so got fingers crossed police are checking.

Just had SOCO check the car who have got three fingers prints off the radio but are very poor so she wasn't that confident about getting a match.

I have seen the signs as I use thoughs roads quite regularly, its difficult to always remember to check that nothing is showing when you leave the car. A case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Good news from the insurance company, the phone is covered under personal effects so my daughter can have a new one without any excess worries. Protected No claims so it won't hit the premium. Just the £50 excess on the window bit of a :censored:

As I said to my daughter last night - nobody got hurt, its just a sign of the times
