It’s also possible that Chelsea may see us as direct competitors for a European place next year so why would they want to strengthen a competitor….I did say “may”!!!

Part payment for Caicedo? If we do lose him be good to get a new player in rather than just cash?
Caicedo is impossible for us to replace at the same quality but if he goes in the summer and Chelsea are one of those interested,... then why not Levi plus cash? Depends on the cash of course but Levi has already proved himself here and is therefore low risk, high quality. I'll go out on a limb and say Levi + £40m would be a deal I'd accept!

I really don’t want us to lose Moises but if we really had to this is exactly the sort of deal that would be worth exploring imo

It would be a club record fee and just not the type of deal we do. 2 years left on his contract, very young, English with a growing reputation, already at a big club. The fee would be astronomical and entirely out of our budget. £50m+ maybe as high as £75-80m.
Apparently we aren't a club to bring loanees in either. Maybe the club brought him in on loan with view to get a very close look at him before spending a record fee.

One think we all know is that you can have a plan but successful people and business know when to run outside the plan when circumstances dictate...

Tony wouldn't accept that deal, closer to 70m + Colwill IMO

If the rumours of them wanting Sanchez are true… would either side reject a straight swap?

Chelsea have a lot of centre backs. We have Rushworth and Steele.

Why the hell would they want Sanchez?

With unlimited funds, they’ll be seeking someone the match of Courtois or Alisson, the very best.

Sanchez isn’t a future EPL winner.

Chelsea have a tradition of munching through players and managers. Player-wise the releases of Courtois, Lukaku, De Bruyne, Sala are four incredibly expensive and bad decisions in hindsight but at that time they wanted the perfect player NOW. Equally, they’ve unearthed absolute gems in Lampard, Zola, Drogba, Cech and Hazard. But the old model of buying in all the players to take a look is no longer possible. Boehly is trying to dispel that perception but it’s far too expensive.

If Tony pulled that off I think the Chelsea fans might self combust
many on here seem to forget how good he is / can be ( Bob )
he’s 24 ? Despite Steeles current form
unless Bobs head is turned I think he’s the future
Getting Levi would be great but unless Rushworth is That Good ?
Why ship out a Spanish international keeper
how many international level keepers have we had in the 120 odd years of existence?

I like Bob, but I’m not sure RDZ does. And Colwill will get 50+ caps for England (starting quite soon I suspect) in a position (left footer ball playing CB) that is very hard to recruit. And he’s English as well so one for that quota. No way Sanchez is worth what Levi is imho

Because some 18 year old ‘journalist’ made it up on some shitty website so it sticks as true..?

He’s an international keeper who’s kept De Gea out of the Spain squad. He’s also been scouted by Chelsea and other clubs last season, and is known to the Chelsea personnel - it’ll be odd if he wasn’t on their radar as an option.

Also recent rumour stems from Tom Roddy at The Times, who covers Chelsea a lot for them.

I mean he’s played 1 game for Spain a dead rubber was it not, so let’s not push it with the Sanchez for Spain thing

Unearthed?

Lampard was an England international with well over a hundred apps for West Ham.

Zola was a 30-year-old Italian international.

Drogba was in his mid-20s, an Ivorian international and had been banging goals in for Marseille domestically and in Europe.

Cech was a Czech international for whom they paid a then record fee for a GK.

Hazard, a Belgian international, had won the league and cup double with Lille as well as the Ligue 1 player of the year award.
