Not a happy bunny...

FOOTBALL TEAM LINE-UP HAS COST US DEARLY
Next Story | Previous Story | Back to list

11:00 - 01 June 2004
I Am writing having returned from the shambles that was the Bristol City play-off final. I haven't left a football ground so angry since Twerton in 1990. We handed promotion to another team that day, too.

This was the showpiece game of our entire season - the culmination of 48 hard-fought games - and it merited an attacking line-up brave enough to win promotion.

But what did we get? Yet again, a negative, defensive, "scared to death of losing" line-up.

This approach nearly cost us against Hartlepool, but it has cost us so dearly against Brighton. We will probably lose several key players now and who knows how long it will be before we can mount a serious promotion challenge again.

Brighton didn't earn promotion out there, we handed it to them.

Danny Wilson, your negative tactics have meant that we, the club, have paid the ultimate price and so must you.

Jason Wheller, Kingswood.

This was the general consensus from the Brizzle fans on the train on the way home. I think the die was cast when we played them at Ashton Gate and they didn't learn how to break us down. Perhaps Danny Wilson should have been more adventurous but it didn't disguise the fact that we actually played much better than we did against them at Ashton Gate. When watching the game back I thought we actually bossed the game.

Taxi for Wilson.

Perhaps it is a blessing in disguise that Dick Knight failed in his bid to bring Wilson to Withdean. Then again, maybe Wilson is just being made a scapegoat. He's finished 3rd in two successive years now...

I'd have liked Danny Wilson at the Albion. But it wasn't to be.

I am so relieved he didn't come here. The Sheff Wed fans complained of exactly the same thing when he was their manager.

Lousy tactics and poor substitutions.

He had over a million to spend at Bristol and still couldn't get promotion in 4 years.

We appeared to have learned from the game at Ashton Gate, certainly didn't look like Bristol had, I agree wholeheartedly with the comment above that we played better on Sunday than at their place.

To Mr, Jason Wheller, of Kingswood.

In a word tough! Don't be a bad loser and get on with life. If Brighton had lost Sunday afternoon, I for one would have still had a great season.

Yours,
Paul Bramhall,
Brighton.

And if that Danny Wilson hacks into my website again I won't be responsible for the consequences.

(I may have to set Yorkie on him:lolol: :lolol: )

I'm more than ready for old misery guts

The deal that was done when Peter Taylor left has finally come to fruition.

Dick Knight:- Danny, I want you to secure our future in the First Division.

Danny Wilson:- Sure, Dick. But you can't afford my wages.

DK:- No problem. You stay at Ashton Gate and get Bristol City to pay you.

DW:- And you get Hinsh in for a few weeks and it'll all come good by May 2004. I promise.

DK:- It's a deal. Tell you what, we'll try to wreck Coppell's reputation as well, eh? Who with any sense would employ a manager who achieves nothing but relegation? I can only think of that car salesman at Reading.

DW:- You really are a genius, Dick.

DK:- See you in Cardiff, Danny. May 2004.

Steady - you're vying with Easy 10! :clap2: :clap2:

I think it's a big call to sack a manager who has got two 3rd places in a row. But go ahead Brizzle, sack Wilson and see if you can do better straight away with someone else - I won't be putting money on it.

Agreed, there is a Sheff/Weds fan here at work who came and congratulated me, but his opinion of Danny wilson is not high at all believe me!!

However, I too am glad he did not come to withdean and I am perfectly happy M.Mcghee is doing up till now!
