They've already signed SIX other players too but all free i believe, i guess it's coming from the sale of Viduka?

Probably from mhe sale of Smith, Viduka, Milner and Robinson. They made at least 15m out of those four players.

Leeds United boss Kevin Blackwell is ready to spend money on new signings after his warchest was boosted by the sale of James Milner.

Blackwell will be able to use a considerable amount of the £5m received as a transfer fee after 18-year-old Milner's departure for St James' Park, and although in an ideal world he would have liked to have kept the future England star, believes that the board have made the right decision.

this should NOT be allowed

the F.A should make a rule that you cannot buy any players, until you have reduced your debts to a certain amount!

They're clearly banking on a quick return to the Premier League, they'd be better off using the income to get rid of that fecking great debt of theirs, 'cos if they don't go back up this season (which I doubt they will) they are absolutely stuffed by taking this gamble.

I also read last week that Milner turned down an offer from Leeds of £80k a week to stay at Elland Road. Instead he opted to sign for Newcastle. Surely that can't be right, can it ? If Leeds are really offering contracts like that, it just makes a mockery.

What difference is 1 million going to make when they already owe over 100 million?

is the 10 point deduction rule for going into administration up and running yet?

It is stupid, I read that they are around £82 million in debt. Whether this is true or not, even with the sale of the players they are still in a very bad shape. Therefore it seems crazy that they can bid £1 million for a player while others clubs with considerably less debt make do with free transfers or cheap signings.

In terms of the administration penalty, as I understand it is coming into force for the league clubs for the start of the new season.

crazy enough to bid £1mil for an unproven player nowadays for a div 1 side, let alone one with one of the biggest debts for the english sides

It is a bit of a piss take isn't it!

It would be a good rule for the FA to introduce. You are not allowed to pay out money on new players until you have your debt under control. Also there wages should be capped. It is a disgrace how chairman are able to play with the future of lubs like this.

Send them to the Third!

Leeds should surely be made to pay off some of their debts before being allowed to spend more.

The thing is - it's still a gamble on Leeds' part. If it goes wrong for them, and they end up in the lower reaches of "the championship" then it might end up just like last season for them, just a division lower.

I wonder if they'll do a Bradford.

That is exactly what Bradford did and are now paying the price.

Being so close to each other geographically, you would have thought they would have learned the lesson their neighbours have suffered.

One board full of idiots replaced by another. If leeds fans were not so arrogant they would be trying to boot the board out.

I heard leeds owed 50 million (pre player sales), plus they were Still paying Robbie fowler's wages and they had 20 players on a million plus salaries(pre player sales). Theyve got rid of a few but still, looks like they'll be playing orient in a couple of years if they still exist.
