I received an embargoed press release a little while ago.

It was this however:

We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Lydia Williams on a contract until summer 2024, subject to international clearance.
The 34-year-old has joined us from Paris Saint-Germain, having also previously played at Arsenal, Melbourne City, OL Reign and Pitea.
Head coach Jen Scheuer commented, “She brings a huge amount of experience to the team. She has played over 100 times for Australia and has a good understanding of the WSL from her time with Arsenal. Hopefully, we will see some of her wonderful saves!
Can she play LW? 🤔

I think it is wrong to focus on the last 2 months rather than the 3 years. Let's remember the good days, that goal against Man city, that goal against spurs , that hat trick of woodwork shots against MUFC and of course the hattrick against Liverpool.

People saying we won't miss him are (IMO) wrong because on his day he was magical. I would have preferred to keep him but it was not going to happen and will continue to happen until we get someone in who will quadruple the wage bill and quadruple the investment. Do we want that and all the baggage that will come with it.
Yep, there's a reason Arsenal are buying him for (relatively) big bucks. But I trust in what TB and Co are doing here...

Must admit when we got to the prem I assumed the days of our best players fking off first opportunity were over.

Worse than its ever been in that regard.

Literally zero chance of entering the top 6 and staying there unless you become the same as the rest with wages ... and even then we'd still be viewed as small
Have you seen what palace pay people?

Good riddance.

Pleased with the deal to be honest. We now need to start seriously thinking about bringing in some quality replacements though or I fear the worse.

Fantastic how we’ve coped since the loss of White, Burn, Bissouma and Cucurella but let’s be honest, you add Trossard, Caceido and Colwill to that list we are going to be seriously short by the end of the summer.

We’ve done some fantastic business (almost £200 million in sales) but let’s not fool ourselves that we don’t need to seriously invest a serious chunk of that back into recruitment to keep the club on an upward trade trajectory.

Another good player leaves but he never turned up for so many games especially when he got a kick. Let's hope we don't get hit by injuries. We really do need to bring in some more quality and experience. Not much chance of that happening though. It's sad that players leave this club so easily once they are motivated by the agents that there is more money on the horizon.

We’ve been very lucky on the injury front so far this season. An injury to Moises, mitoma or perv and we look very weak.

Yeah maybe, but I don’t necessarily mean stroppy in a refusing to play kind of way, just that he never exactly comes across as a beacon of enthusiasm and I suspect it’s not really the first time he might have been phoning it in at training etc. That kind of stuff can have a low-level impact around the feeling of the club and we could easily just have not known about it before.
Yeah ok. None of us can really know that though.

De Zerbi has made several comments in regards to training.
In one of his early press conferences he said he was surprised the players get a day off.

I think he has very high standards expects the maximum from his players.
His comments about Trossard can get even better results, may be code for him thinking he isn't putting enough into training.
Or not.
