I just don’t think selling your top scorer in January is a great move IMO.
We haven’t exactly missed him have we? If you put forward a case based on this then fair enough. But you haven’t, your argument centers around him playing well for an another club.

All things considered it was a good move for all and good management by the club.

You have a point we are the only PL club in the top ten to get weaker this January, we also did the same under Oscar selling Barnes in January for a measly £800k or whatever it was. People will say a couple of kids came in although we all know that’s not the same as selling Trossard who was a class act.

Maybe we should get 'weaker' every window, judging by how the remaining players have performed since Trossard left... :lolol:

I miss him. We don't have another player like him, on his day he was sublime.

Mitoma has certainly softened the blow, but I'd have loved to have had Trossard's versatility as an option still. He such an intelligent player, a craftsman and a real asset to any team. He's slotted right in at Arsenal, which is no surprise at all. I wish him well, can't blame him for jumping at that chance.

Speculation your Honour. He came off the bench at Charlton and was useless.
We can all single out some anonymous displays from him (and all our players for that matter). But over the last 3.5 years or so he's without a doubt been one of our best and most productive players. I've not looked up a goals reel, but I'd wager his is pretty special.

That one v Brentford on Boxing Day, beautiful.

He had loads of anonymous games for us. Seems as though he needed the lure of silverware to be consistent.

‘On his day‘ being key. Absolutely brilliant at his best, but not often enough

Its just the nature of his position. The hardest thing to do is to score and create goals, to unlock defences. If he could do that week-in week-out at this level then he'd have been well above our pay grade. Arsenal took a punt on him after they were gazumped at the last minute for Mudryk, and are now reaping the rewards. He won't do it every week for them either - he's very good, but not world class.

Having said all that, would I now swap Trossard for Mitoma ? Mmmnah. I'd still rather have kept him here though.

He didn't want to play for us and would go anonymous for the rest of the season.
Right decision for him to go, and at least we got something.
This is pretty much my view. All reports make it seem he didn't want to be here and had fallen out with some key squad members as well as RdZ. Even if it was fixable, there's no guarantee we'd have got the version of Trossard that Arsenal have anyway
